DOK mapped the road safety at all 21 school locations in Pijnacker-Nootdorp using a data-driven approach. In parallel, research was conducted into road safety on school cycling and walking routes.

The research was carried out by analyzing and assessing the infrastructure, traffic flows and accidents. This supports the municipality in making targeted, effective improvements to shape the school approach more specifically. Work sessions with the involved officials and alderman were part of the process.

Our practical advice contributed to clear signaling of desirable improvement measures. Within this project, we also provided a cost estimate for the traffic engineering measures at the request of the municipality. This allows the municipality to submit the measures for a subsidy application.
